My Approach

During my intake process, I like to obtain a biopsychosocial history of the client and gather information on presenting problems. In addition, family of origin issues are explored, as well as any history of trauma. Progress is rated by assessments done periodically throughout treatment. Homework is assigned because I believe it's important for the client to get psychoeducation on their symptoms and implement their learned coping skills into everyday life. I enjoy working with all individuals, ranging from children to adolescents and couples.

I believe that continuing education is essential to becoming a better therapist. I have participated in courses on CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, LGBTQIA+ issues and interventions, the Gottman Method, motivational interviewing, and compassion fatigue therapy. I am interested in learning more about mindfulness techniques, EMDR, and somatic therapy. I believe it's important to collaborate with other providers in order to learn and grow to better support our clients.

At times I know life can be daunting and overwhelming with life stressors, the complexity that comes with navigating relationships, or perhaps the feeling that something is holding you back from reaching your full potential; yet part of you wants to feel better and move forward. I have specific experience working with individuals, couples, and families who struggle mental health issues and trauma. In my practice, I am affirming of people of all backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations. Everyone is unique; in my work, I strive to identify the specific factors that foster growth and healing for my clients.

Therapy offers a safe space for you to understand and overcome the challenges of the past or the present. I have been working with individuals, couples, families, and groups as an Applied Behavioral Therapist and also as a Marriage and Family Therapist having worked at YMCA, SDSU and more recently, my own private practice

In our work together, we will employ numerous therapy approaches including Family Systems, Gottman, Attachment Theory and Mindfulness to best meet your needs. My aim is always to employ both a holistic and integrative approach. Why? I believe there is no one-size-fits-all formula to address your unique history, personality and concerns.
